Dance Etiquette

  • When asked to dance try to say yes unless you feel unsafe.

  • Everyone is here to dance, so it's a safe place to ask people to dance.

  • Don't only ask people better or worse than you, try and ask everyone to dance.

  • Don't ask one person for a second dance without first dancing with everyone else in the room.

  • Never teach on the social dance floor or during a class. We know you want to be helpful but if a new student is told by 10 people to dance differently they will never come back.  Instead try and adjust your dancing and make it fun for the newer dancer. If asked a question direct them to the teacher if it's non trivial.

  • Deodorant is your friend, so are showers :-)

  • Anything the follow does is right, if she does it, then you lead it, never correct a follow!

Safety for yourself and others.

  • If you feel unsafe physically or otherwise please say something.

  • Report any inappropriate behaviour to any staff member in the room.

  • If someone is behaving in a creepy way we want to know, please do report it.

  • If you are behaving in a creepy way, please stop.

  • Messaging people you meet at dancing is not ok if they do not respond.

  • Don't ask one person for a second dance without first dancing with everyone else in the room.

  • Leads do not require force, never grip or use excessive force.
